Our recent soft launch has been a huge step forward - and a massive success.
Not only has it shown that there’s a real need for a simple, central signposting tool like Innate Needs, but it’s also helped shape our roadmap for the months ahead. The platform you see today isn’t far from what we initially envisioned, and we’re proud of how far it’s come in a short space of time.
Mark the Date: 1st August 2025
We’re now preparing for the full launch of the Innate Needs platform, which will go live on 1st August 2025. From that point onwards, the platform will be fully open and completely free to use - both for individuals seeking support and for the organisations providing it.
Our focus beyond that launch is simple: to get out there, meet the organisations doing vital work on the ground, and help make the services they provide easier to find. This is a community resource, designed to strengthen the support that already exists - not to compete with it.
A Shared Challenge: Ringfenced Budgets
One thing we’ve encountered consistently - whether speaking to councils, charities, or community groups - is the challenge of ringfenced budgets.
Charitable organisations often operate with extremely limited funding. Their resources are understandably directed towards delivering the services they specialise in, leaving little room, financially or operationally, - to collaborate across wider networks or share data infrastructure.
At the same time, local authorities do have budgets to support those in need - but those funds are typically restricted to residents within their own geographical boundaries. That means even when neighbouring councils are trying to solve similar problems, they often work in isolation. There’s rarely a practical or financial mechanism to pool knowledge or coordinate signposting efforts across borders.
The result? Duplication, confusion, and sometimes people falling through the cracks - not because support doesn’t exist, but because the systems behind it aren’t joined up.
Innate Needs: A National Solution
We’ve had several councils ask if we’d consider white-labelling Innate Needs so they could run their own version locally. It’s a fair question - and it reflects how serious they are about helping their residents.
But if every council in the UK ran their own separate version of the platform, we’d be back to square one: 360 disconnected systems, each with different designs, data structures, and login processes. Another 360 websites for people in crisis to try and navigate.
We believe there’s a better way.
Innate Needs was built to be the shared infrastructure - a single, national platform that gives everyone access to the support they need, regardless of which organisation provides it or where they happen to live.
By working together and pooling visibility - even if funding remains ringfenced - we can make sure people reach the right service first time. That saves time, reduces pressure on overstretched services, and most importantly, gets help to those who need it, when they need it.
Let’s Build It Together
As we prepare for our full launch on 1st August 2025, we’re getting ready to take the next big step.
From that date, we’ll be reaching out to every local council and organisation listed on the platform. Our aim is simple: to make sure every service is accurately represented, easily discoverable, and part of a shared national effort to improve access to support.
We’re laying the groundwork now - but this is only the beginning. Watch this space.
